چکیده

The present study evaluated the effects of dietary black soldier fly larvae meal (BSF) on growth performance, intestinal health, and susceptibility to Vibrio parahaemolyticus in Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei . basal diet was formulated contain 25% fish (FM), then FM replaced with BSF for 10, 20, 30% protein experimental diets, which are referred as FM, BSF10, BSF20, BSF30, respectively. Four hundred eighty healthy uniform-sized (~0.88 g) were distributed among four groups three replicates, each 40 a 300-L tank they fed times daily 7 weeks. results showed that performance did not change significantly BSF10 BSF20 but decreased those BSF30 compared ones diet. After feeding trial sampling, V. infection challenge conducted shrimp. survival rate higher than FM. midgut histology width height mucosal folds early signs apoptosis cells found BSF30. mRNA levels non-specific immune-related genes dorsal relish downregulated diets. antimicrobial peptides–related alf (anti-lipopolysaccharide factor) upregulated level pen3 (penaeidins 3) bacterial communities operational taxonomic unit differentiated according beta diversity analysis. At genus levels, decrease Vibrio, Photobacterium , Candidatus_Bacilloplasma well increase Bacillus Pseudoalteromonas abundance, indicated improvement microbiota BSF. Therefore, use should be controlled at dosage 20% can improve without causing any negative effects.

Intra-Puparial Development of the Black Soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens

The intra-puparial development of the black soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens (L.) (Diptera: Stratiomyidae), was studied based on 125 pupae under controlled conditions in laboratory. The 6(th) instar larvae were reared until they stopped feeding, and the prepupae were separated according to the reduction in larval length and degree of pigmentation and sclerotization of the cuticle. The pupal stage...

Effect of dietary formic acid and astaxanthin on the survival and growth of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and their resistance to Vibrio parahaemolyticus

A 90-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of formic acid (FA) and astaxanthin (AX) on growth, survival, immune parameters, and tolerance to Vibrio infection in Pacific white shrimp. The study was divided into two experiments. In experiment 1, postlarvae-12 were randomly distributed into six groups and then fed four times daily with six experimental diets contained 0.3 % FA, 0...

Effects of Substitution of Fish Meal with Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) Larvae Meal, in Yellow Catfish

An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate effects of replacing fish meal (FM) with black soldier fly larvae meal (BSF) on growth performance, feed utilization, and plasma parameters, for juvenile yellow catfish, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. Six isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets were prepared substituting the FM protein with BSF protein in the following amounts: 0 (control group), 10% (BSF...

Three different experiments were conducted to study the effect of dietary astaxanthin on the immune response, resistance to white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) and transcription of antioxidant enzyme genes in Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. Each experiment included one triplicate treatment group (fed with 80 mg/kg astaxanthin supplemented diet) and one triplicate control group (fed with...
